Navagraha Exploration – The Sun
29th January 2026

Join us for an online session dedicated to the qualities of the Sun, featuring insights from Vedic astrology with Sara, as well as mantra chanting, yantra drawing, and painting with Antarshuddhi.

Navagraha Exploration

Navagraha Exploration is an exquisite one-year journey through the nine planets visible to the naked eye, and, ultimately, a journey within ourselves too. This series offers a monthly session (except July and August) beginning in January, where we explore each planet through the lens of Jyotiṣa (Vedic/Indian astrology) while connecting with the sacred practices of mantra and yantra. The series will end with an integration session at the end of the year (December). Although the course stretches during the whole year, you can book single sessions or the replay of already past sessions.

To begin our Navagraha Exploration series, we welcome Sūrya, the Sanskrit name for the Sun. As we close out 2025 and step into 2026, a number 1 year symbolising new beginnings and vibrating the energy of the Sun, we honour this source of light, vitality, and consciousness. The Sun offers us life-giving energy, clarity of purpose, and the radiant awareness that connects us to our Ātman, our inner soul. From here, we will continue our journey through the planets, following the order in which they are positioned in relation to the Sun.

Join us for this month’s session – and perhaps for the entire series – as we explore the mythology, qualities, and symbolism of the Sun in a profound way.

The Sun – Consciousness, Radiance, Illumination

The Sun is regarded as the Father and the central presence of our solar system — the primary seat of consciousness. He governs the Fire element and is associated with the life force, the right side of the body, and the right energy channel (piṅgalā-nāḍī). In yogic anatomy, the Sun corresponds to maṇipūra-cakra, the solar plexus, the energetic centre of vitality, willpower, and inner radiance.

As the source of light and vision, the Sun illuminates both the external world and our inner landscape, supporting clarity, discernment, and awakened intelligence. His influence strengthens confidence, leadership, motivation, and the ability to act with purpose.

In Vedic numerology, the Sun is connected with the number 1, which is also the psychic number of those born on the 1st, 10th, 19th or 28th of any month. The Suns’ influence is strongest on Sunday, which is why we have chosen this day for our session.

The Sun Yantra and Mantra

Yantras are sacred tantric diagrams, often seen as the materialised vibration of a mantra. Traditionally, they are practiced in combination with their respective mantra, as these sound vibrations are believed to heal, harmonize, and awaken the body on a subtle level. Mantras resonate with one’s physio-mental system, serving as a powerful vehicle for activating deeper inner forces and guiding individuals on the path to self-realization.

During this three-hour online sādhana, we will create the Sun Yantra by drawing it and charging it through mantra chanting, allowing us to connect with, balance, and support our personal Sun energy. You will also receive guidance on colours and painting techniques to complete your yantra in your own time.

Drawing and painting the Sun yantra is suitable for anyone drawn to it – particularly those born on a number 1 day or those seeking to harmonize and strengthen Sun-related qualities within themselves. When placed in a chosen space, the yantra can stimulate a harmonizing, activating and vitalising effect in the observer and in the space it is displayed in, as well as individual and emotional illumination, optimism and openness.
