This yantra should stimulate non-attachment, transformation, the strength and courage to overcome our inner negativity and fears, and the removal of ignorance by opening the door of the knowledge of eternity.

This Kali yantra is expressing one of her forms as the first Mahavidya. The Mahavidyas are a group of ten Wisdom Goddesses and each of them personifies a different aspect of the Divine Mother or Adi Parashakti. It is said that “each Mahavidya is one facet of a multi-faceted Great Goddess and that each facet contains all the others”. They are considered Tantric in nature and intent on guiding the spiritual seeker toward liberation.

Kali – Mother of the Universe, Adi Shakti, Primordial Force, Kundalini – is the most powerful force of time, transformation and the destroyer of evil forces. She represents the power of consciousness in its highest form. She is the divine protector, who bestows moksha, or liberation and is said to remove the ignorance that makes us fear death. Although she is referred to be fierceful and terrific, she removes the material attachments in a process of purification and holds out the promise to the spiritual seeker of transformation from the human to the Divine.

I painted this yantra during the auspicious time of Navarati and I have chanted and charged it with the Kali mantra during the whole process of creation. I have applied the “wash”-technique by the Tantric artist Harish Johari.
