Navagraha Exploration – The Moon
15th February 2026

Join us for an online session dedicated to the qualities of the Moon, featuring insights from Vedic astrology with Sara, as well as mantra chanting, yantra drawing, and painting with Antarshuddhi.

Navagraha Exploration

Navagraha Exploration is an exquisite one-year journey through the nine planets visible to the naked eye, and, ultimately, a journey within ourselves too. This series offers a monthly session (except July and August) beginning in January, where we explore each planet through the lens of Jyotiṣa (Vedic/Indian astrology) while connecting with the sacred practices of mantra and yantra. The series will end with an integration session at the end of the year (December). Although the course stretches during the whole year, you can book single sessions or the replay of already past sessions.

This month’s session is dedicated to Candra or Soma are some of the Sanskrit names for the Moon.

The Moon – Emotion, Subconscious, Nourishment

Among the nine visible planets (grahas), the Moon is the closest to Earth, and the graha which moves the fastest. In astrology, the Moon represents our emotional nature – how we feel nourished in life, our connection with the mother, and the formative experiences of our first year of life. The Moon reveals how we process feelings, seek comfort, and allow ourselves to receive in life.

The Moon is regarded as well as the reflective counterpart of the Sun – the gentle, receptive seat of emotional intelligence and inner sensitivity. She governs the Water element and is associated with nourishment, intuition, and the left side of the body, as well as the left energy channel (iḍā-nāḍī). In yogic anatomy, the Moon corresponds to svādhiṣṭhāna-cakra, the sacral centre linked with emotion, imagination, fluidity, and the subconscious mind.

As the source of cooling light, the Moon soothes, balances, and stabilizes, supporting inner peace, receptivity, and the capacity to reflect rather than react. Her influence enhances empathy, creativity, emotional clarity, and the ability to feel connected — both inwardly and with others.

In Vedic numerology, the Moon is connected with the number 2, which is also the psychic number of those born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th of any month.

Mahashivaratri – The Great Night of Śiva

Even though the Moon’s influence is traditionally strongest on Monday, we will hold this Moon session on the auspicious day and night of Mahāśivarātri, which falls on a Sunday this year, when Śiva is celebrated. Śiva, intimately associated with the Moon, brings a natural connection to this session, enhancing its reflective and calming influence. Mahashivaratri is a profoundly significant night, symbolising the overcoming of darkness and ignorance, and offering an opportunity for heightened awareness, inner reflection, and spiritual renewal.

Moon Yantra and Mantra

Yantras are sacred tantric diagrams, often seen as the materialised vibration of a mantra. Traditionally, they are practiced in combination with their respective mantra, as these sound vibrations are believed to heal, harmonize, and awaken the body on a subtle level. Mantras resonate with one’s physio-mental system, serving as a powerful vehicle for activating deeper inner forces and guiding individuals on the path to self-realization.

In our upcoming Moon session, we will explore the many layers of this cosmic being, her astrological significations, symbolism, and rich mythology, to deepen our understanding of how the Moon shapes our inner world and daily mood.

During this three-hour online sādhana, we will create the Moon Yantra by drawing it and charging it through mantra chanting, allowing us to connect with, balance, and support our personal Moon energy. You will also receive guidance on colours and painting techniques to complete your yantra in your own time.

Drawing and painting the Moon yantra is suitable for anyone drawn to it – particularly those born on a number 2 day or those seeking to harmonize and strengthen Moon-related qualities within themselves. When placed in a chosen space, the yantra can stimulate a harmonising and soothing effect, as well as support individual and emotional stability for both the observer and the surrounding environment.
